I have been looking for software to use the Getting Things Done time management techniques with my O2 Xda mini S (I think it’s O2’s equivalent to the QTek 9100) and finally found a rather good one: MyLife Organized. There’s a MyLife Pocket PC and Windows Desktop application to manage tasks, projects and deadlines and both applications can be easily synchronized.
Although I don’t use all of the features (deadlines, time tracking etc), it’s a decent program to use GTD on the road and never forget an important task again.
The only problem I had with MyLife was with the registration process: If you plan to buy MyLife, make sure to remove the leading and trailing asterisks (*) from the serial number to get it working.

Thats interesting Dennis. I’m just curious, whats the biggest benefit of that product for you? If its that this product works on your pocket pc, I’ll understand. But I’m curious about why you chose that product over all the other alternatives such as Backpack (from 37Signals, http://www.backpackit.com), etc.

I haven’t tried it personally but it looks like a cool product.
I’ve been using the MyLifeOrganized light version for a couple projects and really like it. I’m moving on to AbstractSpoon ToDoList because it tracks more stuff, but will probably keep using MLO as well. ToDoList has a new “import from MyLifeOrganized” feature so apparently others have gone this route as well.
I was looking at the MLO support wiki and how people are automating it with AutoHotKey, an opensource keypress/macro utility, and noticed something familiar about the window names. Sure enough, taking a look inside MyLife-Light.exe, it turns out it’s written in Delphi!!

Ali: Being able to use MyLife Organized on my Mobile Phone was indeed the main reason I chose it. I would probably use it even if there wasn’t a desktop version available. I’m not sure if I’m alone with this requirement, but being able to write down ideas/tasks when I’m not at my computer is important to me.
Andrea: Yep, I tried SmarterTasks first because it looked great on the website. To be honest, it was too complicated so I didn’t use the trial more than a day (ie. you needed multiple clicks for things that should take a single click only and it had other usability issues).
Todd: I actually think many companies and developers are making a secret out of their Delphi usage to protect their competitive advantage.

The Delphi comment wasn’t really about MLO but more of a general thing I noticed.
For implementing GTD you might try out this web-based application:

You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
A mobile version is available too.
With the new added iCal feed, now you can subscribe to Gtdagenda with third party services like Google Calendar or Apple iCal, and stay up-to-date with your Gtdagenda tasks.

Dennis, I just downloaded a trial version of MLO to my desktop and Dell Axim x51. I would like to get started very quickly using this. Are you aware of any premade lists out there in cyberland that can be uploaded? I haven’t tried very many programs but I need to have a desktop feature because I don’t type very fast on the Axim so I want to be able to update it quickly but still be able mark off the items on the Axim as they get done. Any advice would be appreciated. Melissa
Melissa, I don’t know about any premade lists. However, I’m not using MLO anymore since I have switched to non Windows Mobile device. I would suggest you contact the MLO support.
